About us
Johansson Heritage Farm's 40 acres has been owned by one family for over 120 years and is a certified Michigan Centennial Farm by the Historical Society of Michigan. Its history started with Fred and Martha Amacher who purchased the land in 1904. Four generations and ninety years later, their great-grandson, Eric Johansson, began a greenhouse operation, Johansson's Greenhouse, and specialized in annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, and floor pots. He operated it until his passing in 2023. Carrying on his tradition of providing exceptional plants and service, his brother, Steve Johnson, will be reopening Johansson Heritage Farm in the spring of 2025 , so customers can once again come for a "walk in the woods."
Our production begins in the fall and continues throughout the winter. We assemble and plant all of our baskets, patio pots, and planters in our seven greenhouses. No matter the weather, our operations continue until plants are sold in the spring and summer.
